Glass Flooring Systems

This video shows Glass Flooring Systems Model FA-TB 4x4 walkable skylight completing the large missile impact test for ASTM 1886.  Impact testing simulates windborne debris striking a window during a hurricane. This is one test which a unit must pass to meet ASTM 1886.  

Within the laboratory setting, this is done by firing a 2×4 missile at predetermined locations on the window and seeing if there is any penetration. This test permits one of the layers to be compromised. Our SkyFloor unit passed both impacts with NO breakage or damage. 

Specifics of this test as dictated by ASTM 1886:               

  - Missile is an 8' southern yellow pine 2x4             

  - Missile weighs approximately 9 lbs            

  - Canon is set 202" from unit          

  - Missile travels at 50 ft/sec or roughly 34 mph
